The story begins in a fictional version of Wyoming in 1981, where efforts to eliminate apex predators over decades never happened. Humanity focused more time, energy and money into war, whilst wolves thrived in regions that they should have been extinct from in reality.
Wulfur is a rogue timber wolf with a wish to dominate the lands over all species including wolves. His son, nicknamed Runt, follows him on his quest. But after he earns his name, he also bears the weight of the consequences he has for following his father down this dark path. Loyalty crumbles and only the ancestors can answer to how the young wolf decides his future.
The book is low fantasy genre for young adults (YA). Book contains blood, violence and fictitious offensive language, as well as themes of gore, neglect, discrimination and sexual references. Suitable for audiences aged 13 and over.
